The Commander Bond website / Fan Forum features a wonderful first-hand, first-experience review of the Omega 25378000 Seamaster, dated October 30, 2002.

Written by "jason," there is as much feel as fact in this discussion of watch number 04519 of 10,007 produced. As always, that really adds to the reading enjoyment here.

Passing me the box, I opened it up, and discovered inside the stainless steel watch, complete with its many 007 logos' and additions. First off, and the most easy to spot is, on the dial is a steel '007' logo, cut and then placed neatly below the hands of the watch. Underneath this, on the dial itself are more 007 logos about 60 in all, etched into the dark blue background. These only appear when the watch is shimmered into the light, revealing its true purpose – to celebrate 40 years of the world’s greatest secret agent. On the bottom side of the watch, is the same design which is found on the gift box, this replaces the normal Seamaster image that is found engraved into the back. Along with this is what reads; '04,519 / 10,007' signifying the limited number of pieces produced, and how mine in particular corresponds into the batch.

Again, this one is located in North Salt Lake, Utah [United States]. The Seller had also listed this one with a starting price of US $2,500.00, or US $2,800.00 "Buy It Now."

The Listing included 12 detailed images, including identifying views of cards, the watch and matching papers. Wisely, the Seller showed the watch serial number, 80372312, in several places here.

The Seller further added "this watch has never been worn."

This particular watch is rather a rare find.

It's new old stock, never worn: Original stickers are still on its caseback and bracelet. Everything else that would have come from Omega for purchase through an Authorized Dealer, including boxes and papers, are included.

This Limited number 4730 has serial number 80434006, which is clearly visible in eBay listing photographs. The Auction doesn't close for another five days, but so far has a $1,500.00 Current Bid.

The watch is physically located in Chelmsford, Massachusetts [United States].

Clearly we're getting a bit far afield here; certainly more so than that for which I intend to set precedent for future Blog updates.

Still, to many James Bond film fans, tangents such as this one from the Omega special event we've been discussing are important. And this sort of image may not be available elsewhere.

Again, with the Omega brand featured on its deck, we have what looks a lot like one of the parahawks featured in Die Another Day. Omega SA has made no representations regarding its authenticity (and I'd prefer not to receive feedback from sources other than Omega claiming to know).

No representation was made in press materials regarding the use of this boat in Die Another Day; certainly the Q-boat on screen in that film did not include reference to Omega.

Still, it makes for a nice visual accompaniment in providing an overall James Bond atmosphere for this rainy outdoor event in New York City [United States].

This is the second installment on what looks like will be a total of eight related to the 2537.80 given away in New York City [United States], on or about November 4, 2002.

Here we have Pierce Brosnan, the then-current James Bond in Die Another Day; Jamie-Lynn Sigler, and Robert Wuhl.

Just prior to Mr. Brosnan stepping onto the stage, Ms. Sigler and Mr. Wuhl had faced off on a trivia contest of sorts: She did very well, and, from all appearances, looked to be a serious 007 fan (nice to see).

In early November 2002, Omega hosted a James Bond-themed event in New York City [United States].

As it relates specifically to the James Bond Watch Registries, this is significant as a rare occurance where a 007 actor is directly associated with a limited edition Omega wristwatch. Here, Pierce Brosnan presents a reference 2537.80.00 to Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who played Meadow Soprano on the HBO series, The Sopranos.

It was part of Sale 2191 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, Convention Hall, in Wanchai, Hong Kong, titled, "Important Watches."

This was Lot 1692. "Omega. A limited series stainless steel self-winding wristwatch with sweep centre seconds, date and bracelet - signed Omega, Seamaster Professional Chronometer 007, no. 07229/10007, circa 2002." Price realized: HK$9,600 or US $1,240.00 (originally estimated to seel for HK$8,000 - HK$12,000 or US $1,033.00 - US $1,550.00).

Number 00997 sold in Canada, 2006

This just in to me via PM on the TimeZone Forum.

Hi Dell,

I bought [watch number 997], from an Omega dealer in Montreal, Canada in September of 2005 [from an Authorized Dealer who had] recently lost his Omega AD status. He had a few of these 40th Bond pieces, and this was his last.

In Canada, it retailed for around $3,300 [Canadian] but I don't remember the exact retail price. I paid around $3,000 (taxes included) and sold it to another Montreal for the same price. It was sold in 2006 but I don't remember exactly when. I didn't lose any money on this deal, so I was happy in that sense.

The watch was nice too, but I'm not a fan of the Bond blue coloured dial ... I love how the watch looks in this picture, which is why I bought it, but was disappointed by how it looked in person.... I prefer Omega's electric blue dial.... .

On the other hand, it kept perfect time, for the time that I owned it.

Omega "Die Another Day" 12-page gatefold promotes 40th Anniversary James Bond Seamaster

One of the many great benefits that flows to collectors from an official product placement sponsor for James Bond watches in Eon Productions films is the wealth of related material that's made available.

In conjunction with Die Another Day, Omega SA produced a 12-page gatefold brochure that highlights the wristwatch makers' history with 007, dating back to GoldenEye.

The opening panel of this 2002 piece features the following introduction from Nicolas G. Hayek of the Swatch Group (Omega SA is one of its wholely-owned subsidiaries).

Keith Snelgrove, Senior Vice President of Global Business Strategy on the Eon Productions James Bond films said the following about the Omega 2537.80 Seamaster.

We have also been taking product promotion to another level in recent years. A classic example is our partnership with Omega; we went to them and said, 'we want the placement and promotion but we also want a licensed product.' So in addition to promoting the Seamaster as James Bond's watch, they also developed a 40th Anniversary Seamaster watch, and produced 10,007 - which sold out in four days.
